Meet the Tarah. She's a cross body fanny pack that's a joy to use and an even bigger joy to make. Wear her cross body, wear her on your waist, wear her however the day calls for.
She's fully lined with zero binding and a quick machine-sewn finish, so I have a feeling you'll want to sew a second one the minute you finish the first.
What's on it
- Small zippered pocket on the front
- Large zippered pocket sleeve on the back, big enough for your phone (yes, the Max size too)
- Main zipper compartment, with an optional hidden zipper flap
- Inside: an elastic mesh pocket and an optional slip pocket
Wear it your way
The pattern is written for right-handed or left-handed wearers, so you decide which way the zippers open. There are three strap finishes: leather and rivets, sewn-in strap with a buckle, and sewn-in D-ring straps. You can even use two different finishes on one bag.
How hard is it?
Challenging, but doable. The back pocket sleeve is the most complex step, and it's worth taking your time there (slow sewing beats fast mistakes every time). There's a full video tutorial (scan the QR code in the PDF) with links to specific steps, plus a "when things don't go perfectly" page for the moments that need it.
Which size is which?
Tarah comes in four sizes, and each size is its own listing and its own pattern PDF, so you only buy the one you want. Same pocket layout, same steps. The size just changes how much bag you get. Size 4 is the smallest and Size 1 is the biggest.
Sizes shown in photos:
- Olive green bags: left, size 2; right, size 4.
